Thom Yorke 'The Clock' (acoustic)

Here’s Thom Yorke performing The Clock , a song off his solo album The Eraser, acoustically on Jools Holland this past weekend. I really love this disc, but to see him perform this so stripped down like this really shows it off.

NOTE: for some reason this video is showing up on/off here, not sure why but I suspect it’s the new caching system I put in place.  Blah, regardless, if it’s missing reload the page or clicky-click this link to jump to it on YouTube.

(I found your site from your link to yourself/site off of DIGG…)

I bought the Eraser the first week it was out.

Not because I was a H*U*G*E Thom Yorke fan, or Radiohead fan.

Instead, I bought it ‘cos I heard a song on the radio from it on Chicago’s WXRT, where my buddy works. I loved the song immediately.

I really like the entire album. And since then, have gone back to flesh out my Radiohead collection.

However, this recording gives me even more pleasure.

    Why?

I grew up playing the guitar. I have always had a fondness for it.

To see the man on stage JUST with his guitar and his voice tells me that the material on ERASER isn’t just a pile of cool, well composed electronic snippets, but at the core is a well composed song framework that holds the spliced bits together.

To see this is comparable to seeing Pete Townsend of the Who play Don’t Get Fooled Again acoustically, or to see YES perform acoustically. It gives you a new perspective on the material.

Thanks for sharing, I am definitely going to send this link around to other musician friends, who will appreciate the stark honesty of the recording.

    *peace*
