Velvet Underground record back on eBay

Velvet UndergroundIt’s back on, after the failed effort, the rare Velvet Underground acetate is back on eBay. “We ran this auction last week, but as we have reported to the international press which has enquirer, the winning bid was found to have been perpetrated by prankster. We are rerunning the auction this time with amendments to the effect that in the present auction, identities of bidders will be kept private to avoid attracting non-serious attention-seeking bidders, and we are also requiring that interested bidders register before bidding so that we may examine their references. We are hopeful that this will ensure a fair and accurate auction result which will reflect actual market interest. – Scott Wax, Saturn Records” Should be interesting to see how much this really goes for.

i should have searched 1st thus comenting under a relevant post.

eh hrm cough, in case you cant find it.. my dop box is ;P

actually i will realy leave it – http://dropbox.yousendit.com/aural-virus

Damn shame it didn’t sell for $155,401, also I’d love to think it was Lou Reed who had a number of these and decided to ‘pop’ 1 in a box for some lucky “sifter” to find…

k hopeing to hear the other 6 tracks (i was lucky to find H3roin, Wa!ting f0r the Man & Venu5 in Furs, was suprised they are still available, should anyone want them, rather than having THEM pulled from the ‘place’ i found them, i will happily share them, (2 all who read this) drop by my blog and post in the CBox or the last posts comments (which will of course email notify me of the request.)
I’ll have a little ‘wander’ round your blog :)

    peace

If you do visit my blog, oh this IS a shameless plug but not intended as 1, more an explanation of the purpose there.

Some form of understanding / preparation is required as it could be misinterpreted as a bunch of people having a laugh and taking the p1ss (well it is fundamentally but also My blog will definitely NOT appeal to many. Musically…
Most will not have heard of the genre at all though maybe an artist as Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) who has been extremely prolific with what appeared to be a weekly release in 2006, Shitmat, Bong-Ra, Hellfish, Enduser, Drop the Lime, Panacea to name only 7 of 300 (to my knowledge who have at least had a Net Label release) many have 12′s, albums, and appeared on countless compilations and i must mention Hecate also who at last count she has 36 releases witch makes me wonder why a genre with artists and fans with such devotion after a LONG build up to its current strength remains underground (a polite way of saying ‘bloody hard to make cash from’, 1 might say its a niche genre but… “Gothic/Pagan Stoner Drone Industrial Death Metal Noisecore” seem to be making cash, the peeps releasing Breakcore (in general, aside from Aaron Spectre) dont have 5 foot dread locks or like Vlad the Impaler with a bullet belt because they have to work ‘day jobs’ to eat… hmm Goths drink blood, proly cheaper.. but actualy there is a thin line between Industrial Goth (its not the correct term but there are SO many tags its is as ‘bad’ as the House, Techno etc scene.
As i say Breakcore is very similar in ‘style’ to many Death Core etc sounds, much ideas and styles taken from this genre from most notably Godflseh, Ministry, Fudge Tunnel in fact you could say take those 3 bands add an Anmen loop a bit of Dub/Jungle get some Punk attitude and then try with these ‘tools’ to create Ornette Coleman using ONLY those “Tools” = Breakcoreish.

So where’s the cash, actually its not that bad, in fact I think its excellent, there’s a family vibe, with the internet Breakcore crosses, no dissolves boundaries and countries, European, US, Russian & Australian artists can often be seen playing a club or whatever on the same bill touring through europe where they’ll all be known and its mainly word of mouth advertising with seemingly unusually no requirement for the BBC1 radio air plays from Mary Ann Hobbs, the late John Peel (btw you can easily check out a Peel Session if you wish, and i do recommend it for a taster, not TOO heavy, not too ‘nice’ i can promise that you wont hear many BBC DJ’s now JP has passed telling you the complete title of a track, as Iwill exlain breakcore is about stirring up the IDM scene it dosen’t stop at the music, were a scientific intelligent sounding long worded track title had become the norm (“Aphex started it” Breakcore have returned to a Carcass style of track naming but it must be in the style of ‘adult’ fart jokes though often worse and cover art can be just as fun hmm its obvious why the High Street music stores don’t often stock breakcore (except Snares, Bong-Ra & Enduser) Passenger of Shit? I prefer buying on-line… :)
Hopefully this has NOT put you to sleep but got you ‘interested’. If you just managed to get here before sleeping i better post the link to this great live Peelie session to get you to the end (and rushing to Ad Noiseam, Ant Zen, Hymen, Hive, Sublight Records, Cock Rock Disco or to 1 of the Net Labels to check some more – Black Hoe Recordings possibly the best? i think they are at their 16th ‘ep’, Mashit (just great), Proboscus (they have some great compilations blinding ’12/ep’s), Hardliner Records (they also sell their EXCELLENT produced releases as 12s & a must is Cock Rock Disco’s compilation – ALL free – ALL will introduce you to at least 100 artists from 1 off releases to the better known, the genres just so damn good, the vibe, no bullsh1t just passion n love for music and the people.

    So what was i doing?

The link before you realy stop reading and begin to doubt :)

So I guess you are listening to it, try and zone in on only 1 instrument or break etc, as I said the style is a computer musicians music as too most it can sound awful until broken down and considered. Just how much effort went into programming that 1 second ‘blast’ of drums? almost like looking into the sun, it hurts the eyes but then view the light through a prism an appreciation occurs, the mind expands with its new knowledge and excepts and learns how to listen….
So after the artists above may not ring any bells onto possibly and likely the father (though a blood test is required) Squarepusher aka Tom Jenkinson who IS very well known yet stays on the VERY egde of the abyss where as others have whole heartedly jumped in.
And if I mention Squarepuser, I must mention Mike Paterson – Planet Mu & of course
Hence my choice to try and not give away music but spread a little of it to create and generate a few more sales as i believe it is a very inspirational genre which is most definitely its m.o. if not its core reason.
Plus i do enjoy it & believe it deserves to be acknowledgment for its purpose if not enjoying it, as i can agree that in some cases it can stretch the limits of aural enjoyment (again its reason, pushing boundaries) So the blog was born for ‘spreading’ BREAKCORE to newbies to enjoy & to ‘see’/hear its actual ‘stance’ on the IDM/Glitch/Clicks ‘n’ Cuts scene (non Dance/Electronica – IDM = Intelligent Dance Music though Cerebral Danceless Music is a better term, as IDM is implying that Dance music is not intelligent)) (some would say this genre has become formulaic and starched – hence ‘breakcore’ (there is a description of the genres ethos/m.o. and style at the btm of the blog, personally i still enjoy IDM/Glitch etc but it does need a kick up the butt to keep evolving and Breakcore is that foot, of course artists are always doing this, but an outside perspective can be more effective, it has aided me in how i view my ‘noise work’ – so Breakcore in short (oops) is music made by computer musicians generally for comp musicians…
Anyway AV (me blog) has had a little snooze since xmas and is about to go turbo, as said the music genre couldn’t be much further apart from VU… but 2007 will see a notable change with an increase of 20% more shares of different genres.. um i think that is WELL enough. :) Maybe i should add this to the blogs bottom row as well…..

BTW I’m enjoying reading your blog, either your job (i’ve seen the pic & have seen Brazil :) ) requires the healthy pursuit of a wide musical knowledge base or you work in some kind of music publication firm? in which is why i (re-added the above info, after reading your blog i thought you ay :) wish to know why, what, were breakcore a little, for a little is all i know.

Uh, where have you been all my life? I need to get into more of this type of music, but have nary an idea of where to start, so your post is awesome! If there’s something that I go on and on about it’s music, so I appreciate your passion.  My job is in the Unix systems admin role, running server via the command line via the much of the same old commands from 30 years back; it’s what I love about Unix and posix compliant stuff – there are improvements always, but the base is solid.  So yeah, I get paid too much to play with computers, and I’ve gotten pretty good at it, but it’s all $ for the family (some computers, music and time for me to paint).  I live in Saint Louis, MO – but lived in Austin, TX from 1996-2005.  Why did I move there?  Uh, to seem more bands, and dammit if we didn’t!  So my love of music runs deep, and my favorite thing to do after listening to music is discovering more.
I like stuff like Amon Tobin, Boards of Canada, DJ Shadow, DJ Spooky, DJ Danger Mouse (Grey Album, Danger Doom), and other things that are somewhat in the realm of Mono, Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai. Not sure what of that overlaps with what you’re laying on me, but I’m grabbing ‘thebugvssoundmurderer.mp3′ right now to give it a go. Will put it on the iPod tonight and have plenty of room for more – give me your suggestions and I will follow them; know that they’re much appreciated. If I can give back, outside of the VU (which you got I assume?), I will.

    Thanks
